With at least another four months for high school players to pick their colleges, three players for FC Alliance 95 Girls Red have ended the process early. Jona Charles, Timbra Delaney and Sidney Bailey have all made their choices and signed on the dotted line. Charles will be suiting up for Truett-McConnell next year. The Lady Bears play in the SSAC, the same NAIA conference as schools such as Lee University and Tennessee Wesleyan. Delaney will join her in the SSAC, but for conference rival Virginia Intermont. Bailey also inked for an NAIA school: Milligan College of the AAC.
All three players played for FC Alliance Coach Chad Stocton and were part of a strong 95 Girls Red team. Although more players on Stocton’s team are being heavily recruited, these three received significant attention.
Delaney joins a Virginia Intermont squad in rebuilding mode, giving her the opportunity to compete for immediate playing time as a freshman.
"Timbra is a wonderful addition to the Virginia Intermont soccer family," Head Coach Katy Stigers said in a Virginia Intermont release. "She will make an immediate offensive impact on our conference."
Bailey joins a Milligan team who was a serious AAC contender last year, making a run all the way to the semifinals and finishing with an 11-6-1 record. She is projected to play in the midfield for the Buffaloes.
"I’m excited to add a player of Sidney’s caliber," Lisa Buckey, Milligan’s head coach, stated in a recent press conference. "I have no doubt she is more than ready for the challenge."
Jona Charles will travel south to Cleveland, Georgia to play for a solid Truett-McConnell team. Truett McConnell’s highlight of the 2012 was defeating Bob Jones University 2-0 in front of over 6,000 fans.
All three players have one more season of playing for FC Alliance before moving on to the next level.
