Coach Marty Baker is one of the rising stars in the local coaching community. Recently, he accepted a staff position with the University of Tennessee Volunteers women's soccer team. When he was an undergraduate student, he served as a practice player for the team. Even though he is now working in college soccer, Coach Baker will continue to coach FC Alliance teams. This promotion comes on the heels of a successful season as a starting goalkeeper for the Knoxville Force. In their playoff preview article, the National Premier Soccer League cited Baker as a key part to the Force's fourth place finish in the league.
Coach Baker has spent the last fours years as a club goalkeeping coach and the last three coaching FC Alliance teams. He has been promoted quickly through the club based on the success he has had developing players. Many of his former players have advanced to higher levels within the club. Coaching highlights include leading a team to the championship in the highest bracket of the NASA/Top Hat tournament in Atlanta in 2016.
As a player, Coach Baker was an All-District goalkeeper for Catholic High School. He was a member of their state championship team in 2008 and spent three years on varsity. As a club player, he spent eight years playing club soccer.
