When people think of FC Alliance, they see one of the state's largest soccer clubs, home to some of the top teams and players in the southeast.  Players of all ages join the club with a variety of goals: from making their high school team, to playing college soccer, to making it to the professional level.  What people don't see is that FC Alliance also runs one of the most successful TOPSoccer programs in the region.  After several years of growing and building, notice is finally being taken.  Recently, club coach Carrie Ollom was named TOPSoccer Coach of the Year for her unparalleled dedication to the program.

TOPSoccer is a means for young people with special needs to play soccer in a structured environment with real coaching.  Ollom, a state championship coach at FC Alliance, sets a curriculum to ensure that players are not only having fun, but they're improving in the sport.

"We're extremely proud of Carrie and what she has done with the program," said FC Alliance Executive Director Jon Schneider.  "It is such an important part of the community, and it takes a truly great person to run it.  Carrie is that person for our club."

TOPSoccer is held on Saturdays in the fall and spring at The Field House at Amherst.  By having it indoors, it provides a safe and contained environment for the players and the families.

"Soccer is a sport anyone should have the opportunity to enjoy," added FC Alliance Director of Coaching Josh Gray.  "We are proud that we can provide that to everyone.  We also can't put into words how proud we are of Carrie for all she's put into it."
